»An Impossible Project«

Release on DVD & digital on May 27, 2022

On May 27th 2022, Weltkino will release the documentary film AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT shot on 35mm as DVD and digital. Director Jens Meurer succeeds in providing an exciting and humorous look at a counter-trend, the return of the analogue in a thoroughly digitized world. He accompanies his hero Florian “Doc” Kaps on the almost impossible project to save the last Polaroid factory in the world.

AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT is an invitation to fall in love again with the haptic world. As special extras, the DVD contains an informative behind-the-scenes and a music video by singer Haley Reinhart with Sascha Peres and orchestra in the Südbahnhotel, where the original soundtrack was recorded live as a direct cut on vinyl.

Insta stories, streaming, fitness apps, e-books and twitter trends. The hype about the almost complete digitization of our lives is giving way to an increasing longing for the real and tangible. Digital detox and slow food are trending; Vinyl and analogue photography, handwritten and homemade are making a comeback. In his documentary, Jens Meurer gives people a chance to speak who were already looking for a turn to the analog when others were still succumbing to the promises of the next iPhone generation. Like the hero of the film, Florian “Doc” Kaps, who risked his entire fortune in 2008 to save the last Polaroid factory in the world from collapse with a small group of idealists. A courageous swim against the tide and an attempt to break free from the grip of technology.

AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT is a sensual and entertaining film about a global phenomenon: the rediscovery of the analog as a countermovement to the digital revolution. A haptic deep breath in ever faster times. Shot on 35mm, the documentary not only brings us the lovable underdog story of a visionary who wants to make the impossible possible, but also invites us to understand the world with all our senses.
