»MENSCH ARNO, SIEHSTE …!«
Commemorative exhibition of Arno Fischer’s master students on the 10th anniversary of his death.
September 13 marks the tenth anniversary of Arno Fischer’s death. 53 of his former students have come together and organized the exhibition »Mensch Arno, siehste …!« in his honor. They will exhibit their own works, which were either discussed in the master classes or which they would have liked to show to Arno Fischer. At this celebration of photography, pictures, texts and anecdotes from the classes will also be presented under the motto »Moments with Arno«. Arno himself will have his say in the documentary »Arno Fischer – Leben im Bild« (Arno Fischer – Life in Pictures) by Thomas Martin and Hannes Gieseler from 2008, in which he shines as a tireless image maker.
Arno Fischer (1927-2011) was not only one of the most important photographers in Germany, but for a long time also one of the most significant teachers of photography. At the Treptow Ateliers in Berlin, Arno Fischer is honored above all as a teacher and mentor – after all, it was his ability to engage with an almost unlimited spectrum of the most diverse subjects and pictorial worlds. As a teacher and professor in Berlin, Leipzig and Dortmund, he sharpened the eye of several generations of students.
