Portfolio Review
»Portfolio Review Night«
Presented by Nadja Masri (OKS) & emerge
The group exhibition Jahrgang Zwölf is part of the graduation of Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie‘s alumni 2018 and will be held at “The Shelf” (former Robben&Wientjes Halls) at Moritzplatz, Berlin.
As part of the program, Nadja Masri (teacher of the One Year Picture Editing Class at Ostkreuzschule), in cooperation with emerge – Magazine for young photojournalism will host a Portfolio Review on Sunday, October 14th at 6 pm.
Freelance photographers till the age of 35 can apply with one project, to be presented to a group of experts consisting of alumni of the OKS Picture Editor Class who work as curators and editors in galleries and at magazines. The goal is to create a space for young, talented photographers to show their work and receive feedback. The discussion will be open to anyone interested in photography and discovering new artists.
Eight photographers will be selected and invited to the presentation.
The reviewers:
Winifred Chiocchia: picture editor e.g. Ostkreuz, Studio Stauss, Fototreff Berlin
Cale Garrido: picture editor and curator e.g. Greenpeace Magazin, Triennale der Photographie Hamburg
Anastasia Hermann: picture editor e.g. Der Freitag, emerge – Magazin für jungen Fotojournalismus
Tobias Laukemper: picture editor e.g. Fototreff Berlin, brand eins, GEO
Svenja Paulsen: curator and graduate of the scholarship program “Museumskuratoren für Fotografie” of Alfred Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Foundation
Magnus Pölcher: Curational Assistent, Haus der Photographie / Deichtorhallen
Peter Unterthurner: picture editor e.g. GEO, Die Zeit
Miriam Zlobinski: Visual Historian, curator, picture editor Studio Stauss
So why should you attend?
The reviewers will tell you:
Svenja Paulsen:
„A portfolio review is a great opportunity, to get feedback on a project. It enables the participants to share their thoughts with picture editors and curators, who in return offer new perspectives on the photographic work.“
Magnus Pölcher:
„The portfolio review night is the ideal opportunity to show your work and get feedback outside of your usual inviroment – it’s a perfect training for presentations including a chance to network for future collaborations. It’s a safe space, the main focus being the exchange of ideas.“
Cale Garrido:
„This kind of intense meeting you experience very rarely in your professional life. It’s a challenging Moment for both, reviewer and photographer. Everyone is open and ready to share thoughts on different projects. It will be a meeting full of positive and constructive coworking.“
