Description

PICTURE BERLIN, founded in 2009 and entering its 7th year, is a 7 week hybrid artist residency / art academy designed  by artists for emerging artists working in contemporary art. The city shapes the program and is the springboard naturally flowing into the greater European art scene. Every experience informs the next.

The unique 7 week Summer Session encourages an active discourse on contemporary art while simultaneously giving the resident artists a chance to develop their work, meet artists and curators based in Berlin, exhibit their work and join the international PICTURE BERLIN community.

This Summer PB is proud to offer the following (mostly) free public events to the community. Most events are located at tête (Schönhauser Allee 161a), or otherwise marked:

2 July – Saturday
19.30 — PICTURE BERLIN’s Summer Session 2016 Inaugural show

5 July – Tuesday
18.00 – ArtScience Slam
at ZK/U
Simon Faithfull, Jannis Hülsen, Harald Krutiak, Elizabeth McTernan, Ines Lechleitner, Timo Nasseri, Maria Isabel Rochas, Pablo Rochas, Anja Sattelmacher, Alex Toland and Myriel Milicevic, Justus Weiß, Noam Libeskind, will be speaking about one of their projects in a PECHA-KUCHA style presentation format. This event has an €8 admission fee which includes dinner.

17-22h – They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? A Curatorial Marathon
at ZK/U as part of „Speisekino“
This event has a fee of €8 which includes 10 presentations, dinner and the screening of 7 films.
PICTURE BERLIN will be hijacking the weekly Speisekino event to combine it with their 5th annual Curatorial Marathon. Ten curators from various exhibition spaces ranging from project spaces to institutionally supported exhibition spaces across Berlin will speak in a Pecha-Kucha style event about their practice. Following the Marathon and dinner, a series of short films will be shown, chosen by the curators, made by artists they have worked with.
The curators include:
Kate Brehme, Michael Dooney, Hannah Goldstein & Katja Haustein, Jesi Khadivi, Pauline Doutrelinguine, Tina Sauerländer, Stéphane Bauer, An Paenhuysen, Adrienne Goehler and Sara Barnes.
