Usually PiB presents photography exhibitions & events, but our new section »PiB’s Photo of the Week · Foto der Woche« enables you to present “just” your series/project, without the necessity of an accompanying event or exhibition.
Each week, a new photographer will be featured on PiB’s page »PiB’s Photo of the Week« with his or her series, as well as in PiB’s weekly eNewsletter, which reaches an international readership of thousands of photographers & photography enthusiasts, and on PiB’s Instagram!
The aim is to promote the photographer’s work and give him/her visibility via PiB’s channels.
Your photo must be part of a completed or ongoing series and be presented on your own website. To submit your series for entry into PiB’s Contest, please email PiB the title of your series along with a link to the series on your website to . Please do NOT attach any images to your email.
The »PiB Photo of the Week« contest (‘Contest’) is open to both amateur and professional photographers (‘Entrants’) aged 18 years and over (or of the age of majority in jurisdictions in their respective country), and from all over the world.
There are no costs involved in entering the Contest.
Currently there is no theme for the Contest.
There is a maximum number of 1 series that can be entered into the contest per person per week.
Usage and rights
Your copyright and moral rights:
We respect your rights and do not claim copyright for photographs or text submitted to the Contest. You will retain full copyright in each entry. In addition, your moral rights are respected. Whenever your work is published on this website you will be credited. Failure to publish a credit due to error or oversight shall not be deemed a breach of this condition. We will seek to correct any errors or oversights as soon as we are notified.
We accept all types of photography from analog and digital devices including mobile phones. We allow editing and post-processing, as well approaches such as mixed-media, collage and compositing, provided that photography is at the heart of the work. There is no restriction on when images were produced – they can be new or old. We do not accept artificial intelligence or AI-generated imagery.
By entering the Contest, you (as an Entrant) warrant to PiB that you created your competition entries, that you are the author of your work, you own all of the copyright in those entries, that it does not include trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property rights of any other third person or entity and that the use by PiB of the entries in accordance with these terms and conditions will not infringe any person’s intellectual property rights or other legal rights. You must not submit to the Contest any material that is or has ever been the subject of any threatened or actual legal proceedings or other similar complaint.
You will be responsible for any claim made by any third party in respect of your entry and to fully indemnify PiB and its sponsors in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person or entity by reason of your breaching any of the foregoing. PiB reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry that does not comply with any of the above, even after the entry is published on PiB’s website & Instagram account.
Use of works
By entering the Award, you agree that any work you submit may be used by PiB solely for purposes in connection with the Contest and any successor website and no other purpose. These uses include:
– Judging the competition
– Displaying winning entries on the PiB website and its social media outlets
– Displaying the winning entries in the weekly PiB eNewsletter
– Cropping and re-sizing the work as necessary to fit pre-defined formats to promote the Contest
– Inclusion within any materials promoting the Contest by PiB
You hereby grant PiB a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence in each entry throughout the world in all media for the uses described above for the duration of the Contest.
You acknowledge your responsibility for protecting your entry against misuse by third parties, through means such as the embedding of metadata. PiB (and its partners) can assume no responsibility and is not liable for any misuse of your work by third parties.
Any reproduction of entries outside of the uses listed above will occur only after receiving the Entrant’s express permission. The Entrant will be contacted and given the opportunity to negotiate any such usage with the parties concerned independently of the Contest. We will never sell your work.
PiB uses the social media platforms Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. While PiB guarantees that photographers will be fully credited when posting images on social media and through any of the other channels listed above, PiB cannot guarantee that others who copy or re-post images will do the same.
Each week, PiB’s editors will review the submitted entries and determine the winner of the week. The decisions of the judges are final. In the event that a judge has to withdraw their involvement for any unforeseen reason, PiB reserves the right to find an alternative judge. The judge will have sole discretion of his or her selection and attempting to contact any judge directly in order to influence them will result in disqualification of the Entrant.
PiB aims notify the weekly winner 3 days before publication, and to select the photograph to be featured from the winning series together with the photographer.
To submit your photographic series for entry into PiB’s ongoing Contest, please email PiB the title of your series along with a link to the series on your website to the email noted above. Please do NOT attach any images to your email.
Right to cancel
PiB reserves the right to cancel or suspend the Contest at its own discretion if not capable of continuing as planned for any reason.
Modification of contest rules
PiB reserves the right to change the Contest rules at any time.
PiB will take no responsibility for the repercussions of any photograph submitted to the Contest, nor any problems incurred by the Entrants while participating in the Contest.
