»THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW« is a photo exhibition that grew out of the weekend seminar (2019-2020) led by Tobias Kruse at Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie.

For a whole year a group of photographers explored the topics they wanted to make visible for others. This process involved visiting private spaces and public ones — which we go past, in a rush, inattentively. Why make these spaces visible? Because there are moments in life that are intimate and thus hidden from others. To achieve this, they have talked to people in private, behind closed doors. They were repeatedly driven by questions, which neither the photographers, nor the viewers could answer, and that would leave all speechless.

»THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW« is curated by the photographer Tobias Kruse, a member of the Photography Agency Ostkreuz and a course instructor at the Ostkreuz School of Photography. The title of this exhibition served as guidance from the very beginning of the seminar. Whether by chance or deep running passion, this motto has been inspiration for each and every photographer, who are now to confront the viewers with the things they (perhaps) don’t know.
