Photographers are already individualistic in their endeavors and in the past two years due to government measures the graduating class of Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie has been forced to look outwards from even more isolated positions. Expressions of inner worlds, challenging the dominant gaze, rewriting the family album, the experience of migrant identities in 2020’s Berlin, and reflections on magic are all part of the results.
The 15th graduation class consists of twenty-three photographers and visual artists. Combining different styles, techniques and themes, their works move within a broad spectrum between documentary and fine-art photography and deal with contemporary socio-political issues as well as intimate stories.
Internationally renowned photographers Prof. Ute Mahler, Prof. Linn Schröder and Göran Gnaudschun supervised the final year projects. The individual series will be exhibited in the rooms of the Art & Fashion House Quartier 206 at Friedrichstraße and presented in an exhibition catalog as well as individually designed photo books and publications.
The 15th graduation exhibition has been developed, produced and financed independently by the students themselves and is curated by Prof. Ute Mahler, Prof. Linn Schröder and Göran Gnaudschun.
The exhibition rooms of the final exhibition are located in the Art & Fashion House Quartier 206 on Friedrichstraße. Quartier 206 forms the center of the Friedrichstadt-Passagen. The department store is connected by a tunnel with Galeries Lafayette Berlin to the north and Quartier 205 to the south. It was opened in 1997.
