Where and how do I find the extraordinary that other people should also experience? Does what was true yesterday still hold today? Or will it be completely different tomorrow? The result of Ina Schoenenburg’s seminar is a strange, as well as surprising collection of visual statements about encounters on balmy summer evenings, irritating objects found along the way, of a past that is gone, of goths, the B93, of piles and numbers, and of adolescents in transition to adulthood.

Akinbode Akinbiyi (*1946 Oxford, England) has won the Hannah Höch Prize for 2024. Featuring some 120 photographs drawn from several series – two of these on show in Germany for the first time – the exhibition at the Berlinische Galerie offers insights into an oeuvre covering five decades. This first solo show for a German museum is the result of close collaboration with the artist.
