2024 Edited – 15 selected photo series by photographers from the Ostkreuzschule Berlin and the ICP in New York
We warmly invite you to our Book Launch of 2024 Edited on February 15th 2025 in Berlin! The 14th edition of the photo book series brings together 15 stories that could not be more different. These include narratives of broken masculinity, queer sex work, everyday life in the snowy regions of northern Russia, injured Ukrainian soldiers in the USA, as well as climate activism in Brandenburg, the examination of Vietnamese rituals as performance in New York City, and last but not least, the joy of play. The series were captured in prisons, on the Sonnenallee boulevard in Berlin and in Indian subcultures – just to name a few of the locations.
The works come from graduates of the renowned photography schools Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie (OKS) in Berlin and the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City – edited, designed, and produced by the OKS photo editing class 2024/2025.
Nadja Masri, Head of the program, says about the book:
“This is why Anton Röntz’s image of building a tower out of wooden blocks is such a great and suitable metaphor for our book, which consists of multiple parts: different series, words and photos, color and black & white, paper and cardboard. Just as the wooden tower is built with precision, we assembled all the elements of this book with care, focus, and thoughtfulness. The translucent paper intends to protect the fragile work, while also enhancing its ambiguity, multidimensionality, and complexity. We don’t recommend playing with the book—well, maybe just a little. But we wholeheartedly recommend playing in life: it acts as a mental reset, fosters curiosity and experimentation, encourages innovative problem-solving, and opens up new perspectives on the world.”

Wir laden herzlich zu unserem Book Launch von 2024 Edited am 15. Februar 2025 in Berlin ein!
Die 14. Ausgabe der Fotobuchreihe vereint 15 Geschichten, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten. Da geht es um gebrochene Männlichkeitsnarrative, queere Sexarbeit, den Alltag in nordrussischen Schneeregionen und versehrte ukrainische Soldaten in den USA, aber auch Klimaaktivismus in Brandenburg, das Untersuchen vietnamesischer Rituale als Performance in New York City und nicht zuletzt die Lust am Spiel. Aufgenommen wurden die Serien in Gefängnissen, auf der Sonnenallee und in indischen Subkulturen – um nur ein paar der Orte zu nennen.
Die Arbeiten stammen von Absolvent*innen der renommierten Fotografieschulen Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie (OKS) in Berlin und dem International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City – editiert, designed und produziert von der OKS-Bildredaktionsklasse 2024/2025.
Deren Leiterin, Nadja Masri, sagt über das Buch:
“Das Cover, ein Turm aus Holzklötzen, fotografiert von Anton Röntz, steht als Metapher für das gesamte Fotobuch 2024 Edited, das aus mehreren Teilen besteht: verschiedene Serien, Worte und Fotos, Farbe und Schwarz-Weiß, Papier und Karton. Genau wie der Holzturm mit Präzision gebaut wird, haben wir alle Elemente dieses Buches mit Sorgfalt, Fokus und Bedacht zusammengestellt. Das durchsichtige Papier schützt das fragile Werk und betont gleichzeitig seine Mehrdeutigkeit, Vieldimensionalität und Komplexität. Wir empfehlen nicht, mit dem Buch zu spielen – na gut, vielleicht ein wenig.
