Update April 2020: The gallery will re-open on May 7, and the exhibition has been extended until June 7! For updates also please follow Neue Schule für Fotografie on Instagram: @neueschulefuerfotografie + @neueschuleprojects

REIZ (STIMULUS) unites selected outcomes of photo projects created during the workshop “Freie Klasse Eva Bertram 2019”.

Four letters, short hiss. Ten positions treat irritating issues, scratch the surface, penetrate layers. Under the skin.
There is a strong temptation to only talk about oneself on strange days, drawing on the depth of memory, curiosity, lived experience, dreams, the archive. Or only talk about other things, drawing on encounters, assumptions, the museum. What is beyond yesterday is today, already taken, just now, therefore over-irritability by all means, everyone irritating at least once.

REIZ is curated by Eva Bertram, photo artist and faculty member at Neue Schule für Fotografie and UdK Berlin. The “Freie Klasse Eva Bertram” was born in 2013 as a workshop format to offer a contextualized supervision of personally chosen photo projects. The theme “augenfällig unscheinbar” (“conspicuously inconspicuous”) has served as an open field of reference throughout the years.
