»Beyond the Sun / Hinter der Sonne«

Graduating Exhibition #26 | Supervised by Eva Bertram, Eva Maria Ocherbauer & Marc Volk

Ekaterina Bodyagina, Sebastian Eichelberger, Franziska Feist, Michael Reinhardt, David Zohar

What may lie behind the sun: darkness or light? Is it where everything ends or does eternity begin here? Our five current graduates take a symbolic glimpse behind the blazing bright star in the sky, or – keeping things more down to earth – behind the scenes of the sunny sides of life. They evoke the forgotten and fading stories behind Jewish tombstones and trace athletes’ lives interrupted by severe injuries. They visualize personal everyday compulsiveness, point up imposed social boundaries and their effects on the life situations of tabooed couple relationships, and document seemingly impossible ventures in regions that are far too hot. The very personal works take us on a journey touching – among various topics – the human psyche, climate change and the process of coping with the past and one’s fate.

With works by Ekaterina Bodyagina, Sebastian Eichelberger, Franziska Feist, Michi Reinhardt and David Zohar.
