How can the book page be translated into three-dimensional space? The group exhibition »BOOK_SPACES« presents book projects from different cultural spaces that understand the medium as a participatory and democratic one.
The artists transform the pages into exhibition and urban spaces using installation and performative practices to render visible the complexity of various perspectives through the interplay of photography with film, sound, text and drawing as well as performance. The examination of family history(s), personal identity and societal perception as well as the questioning of stereotypical image worlds and social role patterns in our present are thematic fields within the exhibition.
In a vacant space in the immediate vicinity of the museum, a selection of photo books by students from the universities of Hanover and Dortmund will also be presented under the title »FIRST PAGES«.
Wie kann die Buchseite in den dreidimensionalen Raum übersetzt werden? Die Gruppenausstellung »BOOK_SPACES« stellt Buchprojekte aus unterschiedlichen Kulturräumen vor, die das Medium als ein partizipatives und demokratisches verstehen.
Die Künstler:innen übersetzen die Seiten mithilfe performativer und installativer Praktiken in den musealen und städtischen Raum und machen im Zusammenspiel der Fotografie mit Film, Sound, Text und Zeichnung sowie Performance die Vielschichtigkeit der gezeigten Perspektiven sichtbar. Die Auseinandersetzung mit Familiengeschichte(n), der eigenen Identität und deren Wahrnehmung innerhalb der Gesellschaft sowie das Hinterfragen von stereotypen Bildwelten und sozialen Rollenmustern in unserer Gegenwart sind Themenfelder innerhalb der Ausstellung.
In einem Leerstand in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Museum wird unter dem Titel »FIRST PAGES« zusätzlich eine Auswahl von Fotobüchern von Studierenden der Hochschulen Hannover und Dortmund gezeigt.
