The photo exhibition ‘Gestalten der Ordnung’ by architectural photographer Robert Herrmann invites you to take a stroll through a well-organised and well-arranged world of images. It combines architectural photographs from Herrmann’s archives with his meticulously constructed façade images of German federal ministries. In search of patterns of order, the exhibition illuminates the forms and processes that underlie the places, spaces and buildings shown here. So a pictorial world of order? Yes – that is not at all as dull as it sounds!
Because order is not just cosmetic, but the invisible structure that holds everything together. Form, composition and organisation need to be balanced to create a harmonious overall picture. Order is not a state, but a dynamic process, a constant negotiation between chaos and structure. Just as the place, room or building depicted is the result of a construction process, so is each individual image in terms of content and capture.
The exhibition not only shows visible forms of order, but also refers to their processes of creation: Every existing form of order is the result of a previous organising process and is subject to continuous change. This makes it clear that shaping order means structuring a complex world while always remaining open to innovation and adaptation.
Die Fotoausstellung „Gestalten der Ordnung“ des Architekturfotografen Robert Herrmann lädt Sie auf einen Spaziergang durch eine gut sortierte und wohl arrangierte Bilderwelt ein. Sie kombiniert Architekturaufnahmen aus Herrmanns Fundus mit seinen minutiös konstruierten Fassadenbildern von Deutschen Bundesministerien. Auf der Suche nach Ordnungsmustern beleuchtet die Ausstellung Formen und Prozesse, die den hier gezeigten Orten, Räumen und Bauten zugrunde liegen. Eine Bilderwelt der Ordnung also? Ja – das ist gar nicht so dröge, wie es klingt!
Denn Ordnung ist nicht bloß Kosmetik, sondern die unsichtbare Struktur, die alles zusammenhält. Form, Komposition und Gliederung müssen so miteinander in Einklang gebracht werden, dass ein harmonisches Gesamtbild entsteht. Dabei ist Ordnung nicht bloß ein Zustand, sondern ein dynamischer Prozess, ein ständiges Aushandeln zwischen Chaos und Struktur. Jedes Bild ist dabei inhaltlich und fotografisch sorgfältig aufgebaut.
Die Ausstellung zeigt nicht nur sichtbare Formen der Ordnung, sondern verweist auch auf deren Entstehungsprozesse: Jede bestehende Form der Ordnung ist das Ergebnis eines vorangegangenen Ordnungsprozesses und unterliegt einem kontinuierlichen Wandel. So wird deutlich, dass das Gestalten der Ordnung bedeutet, eine komplexe Welt zu strukturieren und dabei stets offen für Innovation und Anpassung zu bleiben.
