In the yearlong seminar taught by Thomas Meyer‘s course at Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie, participants explored the idea of identity through photography. The topic calls for questions such as ‘Who am I?’ and, by extension, ‘Who are we?” and how we see ourselves in relation to others.

The 14 photographers have chosen to address deeply personal histories as well as topics surrounding social, political and religious issues. The result is a multi-faceted take on how age, gender, space, family and landscape can shape and define our identity, and what, in turn, we choose to identify with.
