Christian Fessel & Frank-Michael Arndt

The photographers Christian Fessel and Frank-Michael Arndt present pictures to stimulate, to think about our own presence, as well as about the developments that characterize them – without being particularly perceptible.

We walk through Berlin with thoughts, goals, feelings that are determined by our habitat, by our environment and with a feeling for the time that satifies our life cycle.

We use our intelligence, we design, we create an architecture in great diversity, reflect many epochs and developmental stages of the history of mankind, and yet we are only a small footnote in the gigantic process of the universe. We believe that what we are seeing is happening at the very same time in our lives. But, for example, the moon we look up to at night is the moon from one second ago.
Our “Blue Planet” has developed its own and diverse cosmos. The planet is not only blue, as it appears in a view from space. The people on it with their most diverse cultures, define their lives in their own colored world.
If you look carefully and interested without prejudice, you could learn to understand. Intelligent life is known only in this single place of the universe, no one knows whether and where similar things may also exist.
Experience, recognize, understand, preserve – that is our joy, duty and responsibility.

The photographs exist in the tension between the documentation and the design of reality.
