Solo Exhibition
Kathrin Linkersdorff
Presented by HAUS am KLEISTPARK,
as part of the project „Draußenstadt“
Outdoor exhibition, also open during November!
In her photographs of plants, the artist Kathrin Linkersdorff attempts to fathom an object‘s essence. In the western world, humans strive to dominate nature. Rivers are straightened, roads follow grids – the understanding of beauty is the result of control.
Linkersdorff, on the other hand, has been shaped by the Japanese philosophy of “Wabi-Sabi”, which extols the beauty of imperfection and incompleteness. In the precisely staged moment of her photography, the fading moment of transience is frozen in all its beauty and refers to structures that exist just below the surface.
The works presented in this outdoor exhibition will be changed every 10 days: 3 × 3 photographs, updates on Oct 10, Nov 20, and Dec 1, 2020.
Kathrin Linkersdorff (b. 1966) is one of the most active up-and-coming photographers working in Germany today. She began her career as an architect, and a multi-year work stay in Japan had a major impact on her life and art. Since 2012 she has been practicing successfully as an independent artist.
„Draußenstadt” is a program of the Berliner Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa, which supports art projects in urban spaces in times of the pandemic.
