Kaarina-Sirkku Kurz
Kaarina-Sirkku Kurz received a photo work scholarship from the Haus am Kleistpark in 2020/21. She is now exhibiting some of the resulting works. Cora Waschke writes: “In Kurz’s work, loneliness is conveyed as an existential feeling of being a stranger in the world. Based on conversations about experiences of loneliness, the artist transfers emotional and physical sensations into images and self-made objects, which she in turn photographs in a distanced studio manner.” With her pictures, she not only illuminates a phenomenon of social relevance, but at the same time creates photographs of high artistic substance.
Kaarina-Sirkku Kurz erhielt 2020/21 ein Fotoarbeitsstipendium des Haus am Kleistpark. Einen Teil der entstandenen Arbeiten stellt sie nun aus. Cora Waschke schreibt dazu: „In Kurz’ Arbeit vermittelt sich Einsamkeit als ein existenzielles Gefühl vom Fremdsein in der Welt. Ausgehend von Gesprächen über Einsamkeitserfahrungen überführt die Künstlerin emotionales und physisches Empfinden in Bilder und selbst angefertigte Objekte, die sie wiederum in distanzierter Ateliermanier ablichtet.“ Sie beleuchtet mit ihren Bildern nicht nur ein Phänomen von gesellschaftlicher Relevanz, sondern schafft zugleich Fotografien hoher künstlerischer Substanz.
