Description
Adriana Lestido is an Argentinean photographer who became known for her socially and politically inspired works, including photographs of women in prison and juvenile mothers. The artist works exclusively analogue and documents the history of Argentina’s young democracy, telling very personal stories in the process. Form and aesthetic are just as important to the artist as the image’s statement, regardless of whether Lestido takes portraits of people on society’s fringes in crisis situations or composes poetic scenes of landscape and still life. Photography for her is a means to express and understand the mystery in human relationships, and human vulnerability is a focus of her work time and again.
Adriana Lestido takes photographs, teaches, curates and has won several international awards. The retrospective, which brings together photographs from her most important series, is her first solo exhibition in Germany.
