Moritz Haase approaches the past with his photographic works. His own, as well as the human past in general. He confronts his origins and thus penetrates further and further into time from his own childhood to his parents and grandparents. His search in time is not directed. It draws the artist from one thematic complex to the next. The uncovering of temporal stratifications becomes the actual work, photographs and scans become search instruments. By looking into the past, Haase ultimately analyses and reflects on his own present.
