Description
Gold blinks not only on our fingers. Gold has recently also been hyped as a safe investment. But are there any traces left of the 19th century gold rush? In the photo project “Traces of Gold” Katharina Brauer portrays relics of the gold rush still remaining within several thousand square kilometers of land in Australia´s Alpine Shire area. Within that region there is hardly a creek or river that has not felt the rattle of a gold pan or the blow of a prospector`s pick, nor a mountain range that hasn`t echoed to the hoof sounds of a gold digger`s pack-horse. Although the boom has been over for years, the landscape is still changed noticeably. But the bush is reclaiming the land. The photo-exhibition „Traces of Gold“ runs from 19th of June till 28 of August.
