Presentation of three Photo Archives / Group Exhibition

»NEW ERA?«

Warsaw 1939 | Ukraine 1941/42 | Berlin 1945
75 years after the end of the war

Curated by Ana Druga & Thomas Gust (Verlag Buchkunst Berlin) in collaboration with Gisela Kayser (Managing Director & Artistic Director Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus e.V.) and Dr. Norbert Moos (Forum für Fotografie Köln)

Currently closed, but with online events, see below. / Vorübergehend geschlossen, aber mit Online-Angeboten, siehe unten!

The exhibition »NEW ERA?« presents three photo archives: the photographs by an unknown German soldier entering Warsaw in autumn 1939, images by the bauhaus affiliated photographer Dieter Keller from the Ukrainian front in 1941/42, and images by the Russian front photographer Valery Faminsky of the liberation of Berlin and the first peace days in the city.

The exhibition creates a line of suspense between the beginning and end of the war. The photos show the break in civilization that war always embodies. The consequences are then as now visible. Wars were not: they are!
