The Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus will be presenting diverse photographic perspectives featuring images of cities and people from Myanmar. The exhibition provides insights into the complex living conditions there, shaped by military rule and a decades-long struggle for freedom.
For his series Vast Land, Wolfgang Bellwinkel photographed Myanmar’s three largest cities over several years. Each city represents a historical period and the intellectual movement of a particular era. Nora Bibel’s series Myanmar’s Driving Force demonstrates the sociopolitical potential of activists as a driving force for the transformation process. For his work The Revolution Takes a Little Longer, Vincent Haiges accompanied rebel and resistance groups in Myanmar in May 2025.
Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus (FkWBH)
Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus was founded in 1996 as a non-profit association. Since the opening of Willy-Brandt-Haus, FkWBH has provided a varied free programme of events at the interface of culture and politics. In addition to the regular exhibitions, readings, discussions and film evenings are also offered to a wide audience.
Der Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus zeigt unterschiedliche fotografische Positionen mit Stadt- und Menschenbildern aus Myanmar. Die Ausstellung gibt Einblicke in die komplexe Lebenssituation vor Ort, die durch die Herrschaft des Militärs und einen jahrzehntelangen Freiheitskampf geprägt ist.
Wolfgang Bellwinkel hat für seine Serie Vast Land über mehrere Jahre die drei größten Städte Myanmars fotografiert. Jede einzelne Stadt steht für einen historischen Abschnitt und die geistige Strömung einer bestimmten Zeit. Die Serie Myanmar’s Driving Force von Nora Bibel zeigt das gesellschaftspolitische Potential der Aktivist:innen als treibende Kraft für den Transformationsprozess. Für seine Arbeit The revolution takes a little longer begleitete Vincent Haiges im Mai 2025 Rebellen- und Widerstandsgruppen in Myanmar.
Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus (FkWBH)
Der Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus wurde 1996 als gemeinnütziger Verein gegründet. Seit der Eröffnung des Willy-Brandt-Hauses sorgt FkWBH für ein abwechslungsreiches kostenloses Veranstaltungsprogramm an der Schnittstelle von Kultur und Politik. Neben den regelmäßigen Ausstellungen werden auch Lesungen, Diskussionen und Filmabende für ein breites Publikum angeboten.
