»25 Jahre FkWBH Photo«
Der Blick zurück – kuratiert von Gisela Kayser
25 years of Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus (Willy-Brandt-Haus Circle of Friends) – at the interface of politics and culture. From May 1, 2021, the virtual anniversary exhibition “25 Years of FkWBH Photo” on www.fkwbh.de will show a review of a quarter of a century of photography exhibitions in the Willy-Brandt-Haus. Under the direction of Gisela Kayser, the exhibitions have contributed to making the Willy-Brandt-Haus a renowned place of culture. Photographs by well-known photographers from the fields of Contemporary History, Strong Women, Young Talents, East – West and the Environment are presented.
With over 300 exhibitions and more than 1.5 million visitors, the Willy-Brandt-Haus has become an important place of cultural exchange far beyond Berlin. In addition to exhibitions, readings, concerts, film evenings and discussion rounds ensure an exciting cultural program.
In the virtual exhibition “25 Years of FkWBH Photo”, the Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus (FkWBH) shows selected photographers and their work – including famous names such as Jewgeni Chaldej, Vivian Maier and Harald Hauswald. Curated by Gisela Kayser, Artistic Director of the Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus, the last 25 years have been put together in an exhibition and reflect social issues from that time period.
Passion, commitment, empathy
Together with a dedicated team, Gisela Kayser developed and shaped the photographic program of the Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus right from the start. With this exhibition, which summarizes 25 years of commitment to photography and politics, she says goodbye as the artistic director of the Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus. “The five exhibition chapters Contemporary History, Strong Women, Young Talents, East – West and the Environment take up the main themes of the exhibitions of the last 25 years. They are presenting a new compilation of photographs that we have shown over the years in the Willy-Brandt-Haus. Memories become encounters in a new context and the individual becomes a whole”, explains Gisela Kayser.
