Regular Meeting / Artist Talk
»FOTOTREFF BERLIN #25«
Andrea Grützner in conversation with Julia Rosenbaum
You are warmly invited to the 25th Fototreff meeting on Saturday, Sep 29, 2018, 7 pm.
At the FOTOTREFF #25 in September, we would like to present works by the artist Andrea Grützner, who will talk to Julia Rosenbaum, a freelance art historian, about her way of working and current projects. This FOTOTREFF #25 is part of the program of the EMOP Berlin — EUROPEAN MONTH OF PHOTOGRAPHY 2018 and therefore we would like to recommend you a visit to the many exciting exhibitions and events. The talk will be held in German.
Andrea Grützner
Andrea Grützner (*1984 in Pirna) currently lives and works between New York and Berlin. In her artistic work she deals with the emotional, sensory and visual perception of spaces. She seeks the familiar and at the same time unfamiliar, asks questions about the memory of places and our orientation in the designed space. Using mostly photographic means, she finds and creates images as well as objects that oscillate between photography, painting and collage. She explores questions of documentary, surreal, abstraction and visual irritation.
After studying communications design in Konstanz, Andrea Grützner completed her master’s degree in photography at the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld. She has received several awards and scholarships and her work has been exhibited worldwide, including Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Museum Marta Herford and the Center for Contemporary Photography Melbourne. In fall 2018 she is invited residence artist in the Bauhaus Dessau. She regularly teaches photography at the HTWG Konstanz and the HGB Leipzig.
Julia Rosenbaum
Julia Rosenbaum (* 1978) studied Art History, Classical Archeology and Education at the FU Berlin. Since 2005 she works as a self-employed person for the art commitment of Deutsche Bank AG. She designs exclusive studio visits (studiovisits.de) that allow conversations with artists as well as insights into their work. She curates the exhibition series “Little Krimminals” on the topic of art and typography (littlekrimminals.de) and initiates the series of talks “Curators Inside”, which discusses the practice of exhibition makers in curatorial workshop discussions. Julia Rosenbaum is also working as an art consultant.
SHOW + TELL
In the second part of the evening, three works from our last open call will be presented. The deadline is the coming Friday, 21.09.2018. Please follow our postings on facebook or visit our website for the latest updates.
We invite you already now to submit your own works for FOTOTREFF #26 on November 24th. We would like to put together an exciting program, as at the last photo meeting. As always, above all unfinished work offers potential for discourse, and so we are very pleased about projects that are still in the process.
