FOTOTREFF BERLIN #21 | »APOCALYPSE NOW«
The photographic work of Miguel Hahn and Chris Hartung
You are warmly invited to the 21st Fototreff meeting on Saturday, Nov 18, 2017, 7 pm.
Jan-Christoph Hartung + Miguel Hahn have been creating together since meeting during their studies at the University of Darmstadt. Their photographic work is dedicated to social awareness and deals with themes including leftovers, the lost and the upcoming. In Vietnam they sought out traces of the war that devastated the county 40 years ago. In Indonesia they uncovered the effects of tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanoes. Their newest, yet unfinished work, deals with the notion of fear in Germany – the fear that moves people to prepare for a life affected by serious crises and catastrophes.
Hahn+Hartung’s work has been published in ZEITmagazin, SZ-Magazin, Le Monde, CNN, Dummy, Vice, Wired and the British Journal of Photography, among others, as well as being exhibited at C/O Berlin and the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg. Their project “Texas Saigon,” published in ZEITmagazin, received the Gold LEAD Award for Reportage Photography of the Year in 2015.
In the further course of the evening you are happily invited to bring and present your own photographic work and unfinished projects and take part in our discussions!
FOTOTREFF BERLIN is a photographers and editors meeting and open for everybody who is interested in contemporary photography. It is providing a critical discourse and adresses topics such as authorship, editing and presentation from various artistic and documentary perspectives.
