Duo Exhibition
»Myope«
Anne Lapanouse & Laurie-Anne Romagne
Anne Lapanouse plays in her works with short-sightedness, the slight blurring that life as a sight deficiency brings. A blur, which resembles a bubble, which protects against the unfairness of reality. Her pictures seem to have been created in a short moment on the threshold into another, imaginary world. You’re neither here nor there. A kind of in-between world is opening up. The blurred gaze obliterates the contours and challenges the imagination, strange beings emerge and strange shadows emerge. With her works, the Frenchwoman, who lives in Berlin, opens the door to this other, her imaginary world for a brief moment, without us being able to penetrate deeper into it.
Raised in Paris, Anne Lapanouse has lived and worked in Berlin since 2004. She is a freelance editor and amateur photographer. The exhibited pictures were taken in the course of last year. They are shown to the public for the first time in Fotofabrik BLN-BXL.
The series by Laurie-Anne Romagne also determines the question of “exact location”. In the ice-cold Berlin winter she let herself drift through the city, always with a camera in her hand. East or west, cityscape or inner life – for the photographer living in Liège, everything mixes into a strange place that is difficult to locate. This mixture is also continued in the techniques used: Polaroid and Gummibichromatverfahren dissolve the last traces of a clear place. The identities remain in the shadow of their everyday life, creating the vision of a new city with an exotic character.
Born in France in 1990, Laurie-Anne Romagne currently lives in Liège, Belgium. She has been taking photographs for eight years, began as an autodidact and then studied photography for three years at the Academy of Photography in Liège (ESA Saint Luc). After graduating, she now specializes in concept, documentary and advertising photography. She works with different techniques such as digital, Polaroid or gum bichromate. Since her childhood Laurie-Anne likes to travel to different countries, which inspires her and enriches her personal and professional work.
