At the invitation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Peru, Augusto David Teodoro Arzubiaga Scheuch, who will give a welcoming speech at the vernissage, the exhibition »DAR ESPERANZA – Hope for Young Mothers« can be seen for a month in the Maria Reiche Hall during the embassy’s opening hours.
The exhibition is a joint project by Karin and Hans-Dieter Brand and presents a photography project that draws attention to the social commitment and work done in Cusco, Peru.
This work has been intensively supported by Mantay-Peru e.V. , based in Berlin, for 10 years now.
At the vernissage there is the opportunity to immerse yourself in the lives of the young mothers and their children through the presentation of further pictures.
For over 10 days, the Brand couple accompanied the lives of the young mothers and their children at CASA MANTAY. Hans-Dieter Brand as a long-time hobby photographer behind the camera and Karin Brand primarily for the connection to the protagonists next to the camera.
During a visit by Karin and Hans-Dieter Brand to the CASA MANTAY in Cusco, Peru, the idea of supporting this social institution came about. CASA MANTAY is a facility for underage mothers, almost all of whom have been victims of abuse, and their children. The facility offers those in need a temporary home and gives them the tools they need to lead an independent life later on. The management of the house is largely financed by private donations.
With this commitment, the Brand couple would like to promote and support the social project in Peru and draw attention to the special work of the non-profit organization Mantay-Peru e.V. The association particularly promotes local measures for education, training and integration of young mothers.
Statement Karin and Hans-Dieter Brand:
The fates of the young mothers were very moving. One of the women was only 14 years old and already had her three-year-old daughter on her lap when we photographed her. But we were particularly touched by the positive things that are being done there in a future-oriented manner for these young mothers and their children – in an atmosphere full of warmth that gives the women the courage to accept their fate and move towards a self-determined life. Hence the title of the exhibition, »DAR ESPERANZA – Hope for Young Mothers«.
Auf Einladung des Botschafters der Republik Peru, Augusto David Teodoro Arzubiaga Scheuch, der bei der Vernissage ein Grußwort sprechen wird, ist die Ausstellung „DAR ESPERANZA, Hoffnung für junge Mütter“ für einen Monat im Maria Reiche Saal zu den Öffnungszeiten der Botschaft zu sehen.
Die Ausstellung ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt von Karin und Hans-Dieter Brand und stellt ein Fotoprojekt vor, das auf das soziale Engagement und die in Cusco, Peru, geleistete Arbeit aufmerksam macht.
Diese Arbeit wird seit nun 10 Jahren intensiv von Mantay-Peru e.V. mit Sitz in Berlin unterstützt.
Bei der Vernissage besteht die Möglichkeit, anhand der Präsentation weiterer Bilder, in das Leben der jungen Mütter und ihrer Kinder einzutauchen.
Über 10 Tage lang begleitete das Ehepaar Brand in der CASA MANTAY das Leben der jungen Mütter und ihrer Kinder. Hans-Dieter Brand als langjähriger Hobbyfotograf hinter der Kamera und Karin Brand in erster Linie für die Verbindung zu den Protagonistinnen neben der Kamera.
Bei einem Besuch von Karin und Hans-Dieter Brand in der CASA MANTAY in Cusco, Peru, entstand die Idee, diese soziale Einrichtung zu unterstützen. CASA MANTAY ist eine Einrichtung für minderjährige Mütter, die fast ausnahmslos Opfer von Missbrauch geworden sind und ihren Kindern. Die Einrichtung bietet ihren Hilfsbedürftigen ein Zuhause auf Zeit und gibt diesen das nötige Rüstzeug mit für ein späteres, selbstständiges Leben. Finanziert wird die Bewirtschaftung des Hauses zum Großteil durch private Spendengelder.
Mit diesem Engagement möchte das Ehepaar Brand das soziale Projekt in Peru fördern, unterstützen und auf die besondere Arbeit des gemeinnützigen Vereins Mantay-Peru e.V. aufmerksam machen. Der Verein fördert vor Ort insbesondere Maßnahmen für Bildung, Ausbildung und Integration der jungen Mütter.
Statement Karin und Hans-Dieter Brand:
Die Schicksale der jungen Mütter waren sehr bewegend. Eine der Frauen war erst 14 Jahre alt, und hatte bereits ihre dreijährige Tochter auf dem Schoß, als wir sie fotografiert haben. Besonders berührt waren wir aber von dem Positiven, das dort zukunftsgerichtet für diese jungen Mütter und ihre Kinder geleistet wird – in einer Atmosphäre voller Herzenswärme, die den Frauen den Mut gibt, ihr Schicksal anzunehmen und einem selbstbestimmten Leben entgegenzugehen. Daher auch der Titel der Ausstellung, „DAR ESPERANZA – Hoffnung für junge Mütter“.
