»Fernbeziehung«

Blaue Ampel Collective:
Ulrike Altekruse, Iren Böhme, Karl Förster, Lena Kilkka, Peter Krabbe, Rolf Krane, Tassilo Ott, Stefan Postius, Thilo Seibt

Our present-day society is shaped by long-distance relationships. Until well into the twentieth century, the members of most families lived in the same place and having contacts in distant places was relatively rare. Communication mostly took place without technical aids. Today, travelling has become a mass phenomenon. Millions move to other cities or abroad in search of better opportunities or to flee from conflict in their home countries. In spite of this, it is still possible to communicate quickly and easily with the help of modern media or even to get to know people who are a long way away. At first sight, this has made the world a smaller place. At the same time, the physical distance between people is increasing.
The works in the exhibition examine different types of long distance relationship. They reveal that long-distance relationships do not exist only between people who live far apart, but also in close proximity. The group chose this topic, because it‘s members live in different parts of Germany and therefore also have a long-distance relationship.
