‘Beyond the Ring’ is an informal set of artists’ talks / presentations / performances by international artists based in Berlin and visiting artists passing through. ‘Beyond the Ring’ is there to provide the opportunity for people to meet and share their thoughts, ideas and work. Katinka Schuett and Anna Tiessen are two berlin-based photographers who graduated in 2017 from the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie. Katinka traveled for her graduation project Cosmic Drive to places all over the world which are connected to space traveling and the search for extraterrestrial life. The work poses the question on how the contradictory spheres of fantasy and hard science can be made visible. Anna, instead went back to her rural hometown region where she captured the life of a group of countryside youth, consisting of young farmers and mechanics. Her work Kommando Korn is a story about being young and living in the province, working and getting drunk together. Besides their graduation projects they are also going to show their new editorial story about the growing Cannabis Industry in California after it became legal for recreational use on January 1st 2018.
