»Beyond the Ring«
Alexine Chanel
Dear Friends,
I would like to extend a warm invitation to attend the 7th talk in the fourth series of ‘Beyond the Ring’ by Alexine Chanel.
‘Beyond the Ring’ is an informal set of artists’ talks / presentations / performances by international artists based in Berlin and visiting artists passing through. ‘Beyond the Ring’ is there to provide the opportunity for people to meet and share their thoughts, ideas and work. If you’re interested in joining in, you will see that there is life Beyond the Ring in Berlin.
For a place, please RSVP Ethna at ethna1742931077rose@1742931077gmail1742931077.com1742931077.
ALEXINE CHANEL (FR) works with photography, video, performance, installation. The media is dictated by the nature of each project. What links these forms of expression is a vibrant interest for collecting, describing, categorising, and documenting various psychologies, social structures, and systems. Chanel calls attention to apparently mundane facts, typifications and traditions, reorganising these according to new systems, thus permitting a new reading of them. The central theme of this body of work is the relationship between societal structures (spanning from religion, cultural traditions, to industry, administration, institutional matters) and the individual, its emotions and idiosyncrasies. It is the occasional discordances between these different types of organisms that interest Chanel. She has exhibited all over Europe as well as in Morocco, Bangladesh, Korea and the USA.
Artist Talk: Thursday, April 19, 2018, 8:30 pm
The talk will be held in English.
