Duo Exhibition

»Das wahre Leben
(The true life)«

Sabine Wild & Mario Dollinger

Sabine Wild works in different styles and techniques, partly figuratively in an almost laconic narrative style, partly highly abstract. Her subjects often revolve around space, city and architecture. In “Territories” she shows us empty enclosures of zoological gardens. Strictly constructed images, oriented on vertical and horizontal. The absence of its inhabitants and the artificial abstraction of natural habitats alienate and unsettle them. What do these rooms refer to? What do they represent if their meaningful topic – the presented animal – is not present?

These works by Sabine Wild are juxtaposed with Mario Dollinger‘s images.
“Mario Dollinger’s works treat the world as a stage […] on which the stories and tales of captured moments of the underlying are played out – a radical intensification of ordinary places in still moments,” wrote John Holten (Broken Dimanche Press) via Dollinger.
“The images become metaphors,” adds Professor Ute Mahler (Ostkreuz School of Photography). This deep understanding of photography already led him to portray the Spanish King Juan Carlos. His series “the last chapter”, which is in constant development, revolves around the question of whether something has ended. And if so, what comes next?

With this exhibition, the artists are continuing their years of successful collaboration, which has already resulted in several joint exhibitions in Germany and China. Both, consciously or unconsciously, are connected by the selection of their subjects as well as related emotions when searching for them.

“Both series, Territories and the last chapter, visualize borders in the broadest sense; human, emotional, spatial,” says Dollinger about the current project.
