»analogueNOW!
Photo Weekend 2019«

As a platform for contemporary analogue photography, the »Photo Weekend 2019« by analogueNOW! brings together experts, laymen and people just interested in analogue photography for the largest analogue event in Germany. From May 17th to 19th visitors coming to the B.L.O. Ateliers in Berlin will find numerous workshops and inspirations. This year the theme of the exhibition will be Material and will show the selected works of several contemporary photographers.

Besides the exhibition, lectures and presentations of current photo projects as well as the Show & Tell will demonstrate how diverse and multi-facetted contemporary analogue photography can be. In the B.L.O.-Kantine the visitors will experience for example a special camera made out of LEGO or a Wet-Plate-Collodion photo shooting, a technique developed in 1850. Different workshops make the various analog photography techniques tangible – from a beginners workshop creating a pinhole camera to special photography like Cyanotype, a 19th century printing technique. Even a swimming camera obscura can be visited at the Photo Weekend: the Obscuraboat starts twice a day at Rummelsburger Bucht.

If, after so much inspiration, you feel like starting your own photo project, you will be able to find all the equipment at the producer fair and even some treasures at the photo flea market. Also in the program: film screenings, Super8 screening and the projection of old railway slides. There will be concerts, DJs, a reading lounge, café and food truck and other surprises. In addition photographers can sign up to get a Portfolio Review and professional feedback for their work.

Patron of the Photo Weekend 2019 is the renowned photographer Harald Hauswald, founding member of the photo agency Ostkreuz, holder of the Federal Cross of Merit and the Unity Award. For the implementation of this project, analogueNOW! was granted funding by by the District Culture Fund Lichtenberg.
