Oliver started studying photography at the FH Dortmund and finished at the Hochschule für Grafik-Buchkunst in Leipzig (Diploma, Klasse für Fotografie und Medien, Joachim Brohm). In 2000, he moved to Berlin and is working as a freelance and employed art director since then.
He co-founded two startups: Earthfaves, the social network to recommend your favorite places to friends, and LoveWaves, a platform to make ideas and products for a better world better known with the power of the crowd.
Together with his wife Julia, he started the photography blog Actual Colors May Vary, and the curated slideshow Local Colors May Vary, combining contemporary fine-art photography and live music. They have been invited to the Belfast Photo Festival in 2013 to curate a slide show and give a talk about the festival’s theme “Spectacle” that was informed by Oliver’s theory diploma work “Wege aus dem Spektakel” about Guy Debord and the Situationist movement.
In 2024 Oliver joined PiB. Together, they are ele studio and can be booked for design and WordPress projects. If times allows, they ride their bikes and blog about it on Actual Colors May Vary.
