Solo Exhibition
»The Mercy of Not Killing«
Chen Chenchen
Chinese conceptual artist Chen Chenchen (a.k.a. Chen3x, b. 1987) ponders the social conditions of capitalism and the positive powers of joint human values. His varied projects interact and constitute a series of parallel worlds. They are coherently arranged into Chen’s futuristic panorama of “Poor Sci-Fi”: a techno-dystopian vision rooted in the struggles of everyday life. His work is smart and spectacular, addressing issues specific to Chinese society, while noting the individual ramifications of life in the modern-day world.
Following Chen’s seminal exhibition at the UCCA in Beijing 2017, this is his first solo-show in Europe. On view will be multi-media installations, large-scale photo prints and mixed media from his long-term works “The Mercy of Not Killing” and “Possible Babies”.
Since 2015 Migrant Bird Space has been shining a light on the best of Chinese contemporary art in Berlin. This exhibition is a joint project with the international art-agency & pop-up gallery MO-Industries.
