About the exhibition:
In 1962 Lothar Wolleh began to work on his radically abstract colour oeuvre which is beyond photographic documentation. These early works which originated in Rome were not included in Wolleh’s first major photo book. His pictures which no longer showed the individuality of the acting persons seemed too radical to the editors.
The exhibition “Lothar Wolleh Raum 2 – Beyond Objectivity” is a first introduction to Wolleh’s world of colours and light, the expressiveness of which has lost nothing of its modernity even 58 years after its photographic design.
With Lothar Wolleh Raum, a place was created in the center of Berlin. The aim is to open up the work of Lothar Wolleh in all its aspects, in a broader, international art-historical context.
