»Leica – Magic Moments«
A homage to a camera.
In cooperation with the Leica Camera AG the Kulturstiftung Schloss Britz presents forty photos from the fifties to the nineties of the 20th century.
Many of the photos that have lodged themselves in our collective consciousness were taken with a Leica M: important world events as much as chance encounters of everyday life, portraits of prominent personalities as well as nameless strangers. An exceptional kaleidoscope of diversity and surprises – just like life itself.
The exhibition contains 40 photographers, for example Martine Franck, Herlinde Koelbl, Henri Cartier-Bresson and René Burri. All connected by their “weapon of choice”: A Leica M. An unique feature of the collection from 2000 is, that all participants personally selected their own photo. The willingness of cooperation and the contributions themselves reflect how personal and important the choice of the “right” camera for a photographer always is. Every photographer develops a unique relationship to his or her own camera. A Leica M is both a discrete observer, a lightning speed accomplice and a trustworthy companion. Up to now the witness of events like the Flâneur with a camera appreciate the advantages of this camera. Again and again it succeeded with a Leica M to recognize and capture the one right, the magic Moment.
