Silva Bingaz was born in eastern Turkey as a daughter of an Armenian family. She currently lives and work in Istanbul. She was a student of Anders Petersen and Antoine D’Agata, and participated in various workshops wich gave her an opportunity to work closely with major photographers in a number of countries and most notably in France.

In 2002 she started working with her ongoing project „Coast“, that was shown since 2007 in different galleries in Istanbul and Greece. She took part in „EU Woman“, a project presented in 2007 in Lodz, Paris, Sevilla and New York. In 2001 she was invited to the Japanese city Trottori to take part in the EU-Japan Fest cultural exchange programm „European Eyes on Japan“. Her Trottori project exhibited in Istanbul in 2010 as well as in Japan in 2011. She was commissioned by Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton to take part in an exhibition titled „Journeys – Wanderings in Contemporary Turkey“ in 2012. A comprehensive selection from her japanese works – including new photographs – was shown as an exhibition entitled „Coast of the East“ at Pilevneli Project at 2013, wich was the third exhibit of her work on Japan.

In 2014 André Frère Éditions published her Book „Japan Coast“.
